Teaming up with Baker University
Getting fiber-optics to Baker University was a dream until, CEO/Founder, Mike Bosch set out to make it his
mission. In 2015, Baker University and RG Fiber made the dream a reality. Right before classes started Baker was
able to launch gigabit Internet to the entire campus. Baker University connects and becomes RG Fiber 1st
With cost affordable options for the University the company has deployed GPON (Gigabit Passive Optical
Networking), which includes optical splitters that do not require a power source.
According to Bosch, GPON is the less expensive than any active Ethernet to deploy, and although GPON bandwidth is generally shared, Bosch
described the network that RG Fiber deployed as a “hybrid” network.
